Walk: Exhibition in Three Acts
“We can’t go five minutes without hearing about confusion. It’s all around us, and our only chance now is to let it in. The only chance for change is to open our eyes and behold the chaos. This is not a chaos whose meaning you can uncover.” /Samuel Beckett/
With the three-act exhibition “Walk”, Cryptid Art Space invites you on a stroll through the unknowable work of the artist Yavor Boyanov.
First Act: Condensed Chaos Soup
(August 1 – 12, 2022)
The focus of the first part of the show is on paintings from the “Cut-ups” series (2019–2020), in which the artist experiments with the technique of verbal collage, used by writer William Burroughs as a way of “breaking reality apart.” The images are accompanied by brief absurd texts, formed from cut-out words arranged according to chance — and not so chance — principles.

Second Act: The Order of the Black Tear
(August 15 – 26, 2022)
The second part presents the grotesque adepts of the (semi)imaginary Order of the Black Tear. The twelve portraits in this series are an important part of Yavor Boyanov’s concept of the Artist of the New Age, developed in the exhibition “The Aeon of the Post-Artist” in 2018 at Rакурси Gallery.

Third Act: Enjoy the Confusion
(August 29 – September 13, 2022)
The final section is a selection of works from different periods in the artist’s practice, including several new compositions from his latest solo exhibition, presented in July 2022 in Blagoevgrad.

Cryptid Art Space is open every weekday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
