Shame
An exhibition by Pavleta Dimitrova

17 September – 7 October

If everything that cannot be said is suffered into crystal clarity, it always takes on human form. Shame is a portrait with many faces, and they all look like mine.
Fortunately, revulsion at your own reflection has a limit, beyond which judgement disappears. Then you begin to recognise yourself in everything around you, and to forgive yourself. Out of pure selfishness, you forgive the world too, because you remember that you made it in your own image and likeness in your head. /Pavleta Dimitrova/

Pavleta Dimitrova was born in Sofia in 2002. She graduated from the St. Kliment Ohridski School of Arts in Dobrich in 2021, majoring in graphic design. She has taken part in numerous group exhibitions and had two solo shows titled Faces, held in February 2020 in Plovdiv and in August 2020 in Dobrich.
Her current solo exhibition, titled “Shame”, brings together works shown here for the first time, created between 2020 and 2022. The works use a range of techniques, with graphics taking the lead and joined by tempera, oil, watercolour, dry pastel and nail polish.
The paintings are experimental, but the central theme in all of them is the human being.

Opening: 17 September (Saturday), 6 pm
