We Are All Equal Before Fear
Exhibition by Marina Pasheva

8–20 September 2025

A person’s identity weakens in the face of their fears, especially when there is no explanation for them. Death has always been a central thought in my everyday life. Questions like “What comes after?” and “Is there anything at all?” have always held me in their grip. I believe the answers will remain unknown until the end arrives.

“Is there life before death?”

We humans are obsessed with our fears, whether material or spiritual. Often, we cannot live our lives because of them. It is as if a veil has fallen over our consciousness, one through which we can no longer see the present moment. For the most part, the skeletons in my paintings embody the past three years I have spent painting — the period when I learned that my father was frail, that he was not well, that he was dying, and after his death. They are a symbol of how I felt the world then and how I feel it now — lifeless.
