“/The Beginning of The End” is a visual tale tracing fear’s transformation and the embodiment of all its faces. We witness this through our lyrical narrator: a girl with a heart as fragile as a violin string, caught like a bird in the cage of her own self-destruction. Distortion is her paragon. She is both puppeteer and puppet. Pursuer and pursued. Acid and the blinded one. In this exhibition, she reaches out to us, trusting us with her story. The sequence of paintings is strict, each accompanied by a poem that reveals the phases of her metamorphosis. The little door of the cage stands wide open, yet she does not move… will she manage to take flight?
Ruins lead to Creation. Death is Rebirth. This is The Beginning of the End.

Kalina Yaneva (b. 2003) is a visual artist from Sofia. She is currently studying Advertising and Graphic Design at New Bulgarian University, while also working on personal projects focused on traditional and digital art; static and motion design; and personal storytelling. Her practice is grounded in rich metaphor, paradox, and enigmatic symbolism. An artist, dreamer, and child of the Moon from an early age, she creates conceptual works that explore themes such as nostalgia, a longing for mysticism, self-destruction, and self-construction.
