Malicroix: Flowers of Evil
(a sheet of paper found in the offices of the art magazine “Ducasse”, 18XX)
When, a month ago, on one of the last warm days of August, I received an invitation from an old friend — the artist Malacroix — to join him at his estate, which he had only just come into possession of and which now also granted him the title of “count,” I did not imagine that, along with a few trifles — my hat and umbrella, swept away during a storm that caught us outdoors — I would lose my reason as well.
I carve these signs with my teeth into snake skin. I will send them off with the first available scarecrow, smelling faintly of childhood memories. I hope my words make it clear that all is now lost for me. Once I have taken care of certain formalities, I intend to return to the count and gladly surrender myself to the quiet that reigns there. I renounce the dances held in the city, as well as the privilege of being buried alive.
Farewell,
still without his new name for eternity,
Gerard Moren.

Cryptid Art Space is pleased to invite you to the debut exhibition of symbolist artist Malicroix (Malacroix), titled in dark tribute — “Flowers of Evil” — and accompanied by the gothic tales of the critic Monsieur Moren. The exhibition opens on October 2 at 6:30 pm and will run until October 14. In the meantime, expect more of the story on the gallery’s page.
Come, cloistered viewer, my double, my brother!
In memory of the master Lyuben Zidarov.
